Eating habit is an integral part of a culture. A type of country can easily be recognized through its eating habit. The common foods of a country depending on what type of corn, plants, and trees grow there and what type of fish are available in that country. Bangladeshi cuisine is rich and varied, with the use of many spices. Boiled rice is our leading food. We eat rice with various vegetables, curry, lentil soups, fish, and meat. Fish is our primary source of protein. Many types of fish are found in rivers, lakes, and ponds. Hilsa is our national fish and is very popular among the people. Shut or dried fishes are also popular. On special occasions, prosperous and highly spicy food items such as 'polao,' 'biriani,' 'bhuna khichuri' with companion items like roasted chicken, kabab mutton curry, chicken fry, fried fish, fish curry, as well as vegetables and salads are served. The people of Bangladesh are very fond of sweets. People love the traditional food 'Pitha.' Sweets in Bangladesh are primarily milk-based. The everyday items are 'roshagulla,' 'sondesh, 'rosamalai. 'gulp jam. 'Kalo jamun' and 'chom-home. Nowadays, the people of our country, especially young people, are fond of Chinese and western food items. Ordinary people are habituated to our traditional food items.
